Recovery — Day 2

Jenny published a blog post yesterday, and then she fell fast asleep.

That’s the way it’s been the last couple of days. The recovery seems to be going according to plan — she’s had no fever and her pain has been manageable. She’s had enough energy to take some pretty lengthy walks, and she’s had a decent appetite.

And the biggest news today is that she was able to take a shower. She was really happy about that.

Back at the hotel

Alan has run to get some dinner. Just thought I’d give you guys a really quick update seeing as how I am on a pretty good dosage of Hydrocodone as I type.

Doctors began making their rounds very early this morning. I have a lot of bruising, but that is to be expected. They told us signs to look for in case the blood supply to the skin was having problems, showed us how to empty the super-sexy drains that are attached to me (Poor Alan!), loaded us down with lots of drugs and sent us on our way. We were at the hotel by 9:30 am.

Motivation from airport angels

This was my last week before the looming surgery. Despite what everyone says, I can’t help but stress over the idea of getting things at work line up for me to be gone for so long, getting the house ready for company to live in next week while we are gone, and getting our family prepared for me being out of commission. Throw in Race for the Cure, Halloween and soccer practices…well, it was a busy week.
